I started off at 135kg in September 2009 when I decided to get serious about losing the excess weight I’d gained over the last ten years. With increasing health problems arising after each yearly medical check-up I thought enough was enough. I thought if I don’t do something now, I never will. I’d lost 15kg on the treadmill and was eating relatively healthy. But had reached my limit on how much I could lose doing this by myself. I realised that I had to join a gym. I tried out 4 different gyms at the beginning of 2010, but had found they didn’t suit my lifestyle, but turning up to ONE55, I instantly knew that this was the place to be. Upon signing up I was introduced to the 12 week challenge and I knew that this was the thing to get me kick started in my weight loss. I had set a target to lose 15kg with the 12 weeks. I felt it may be a little too much but I always like to set targets that were slightly ambitious, but not impossible. Together with the jump start and the exercise / food diary, setting off on the challenge was pretty easy. With the constant support and encouragement from my trainer and other instructors within the gym, it was really easy to go to ONE55 for a workout because I felt comfortable and encouraged. After the 12 weeks were finished, my final measurements and photo were taken. I was absolutely blown away in the I find it funny people now ask me for advice on healthy eating and exercise when I was always known as “the big guy”. I have gained so much knowledge in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This has been a total life changing experience and made me a better person. My health problems are gone now and I feel fitter and healthier than ever. If I can do it, anyone can! |
